Custom Bumper: Test Fitting
|
|
Test fitting. Need to pre-plan everything prior to using the adhesive. I need to know where everything goes; I need to ensure I know exactly what snaps where and how; I need to know what clamps
need to go where. This has to be done quickly and without mistakes since the adhesive is a two-part and you only have a set time to work with it. |

Pic 1 Test fitting the Greddy lip to the bumper. I used thin masking tape to mark the top of the Greddy lip onto the bumper. Below the tape is where the adhesive
will be used and the bumper needs to be prepared in this area.
Pic 2 Closer look at the Greddy lip and the bumper on the left side. I also tested where I need clamps. Since the adhesive has a very short set-up time, everything
needs pre-planning .. attaching the lip, where it goes exactly .. where the clamps go .. and so on.
Pic 3 Looking at the left side clamps from the back. This area on both sides needs clamping.

Pic 4 Above the pockets on the lip, there is a gap where the lip fails to follow the contour of the bumper. This will have to be filled.
Pic 5 There is an obvious gap on either side where the center piece of the Greddy lip tucks into the bottom part of the bumper. This will have to be filled out
with donor plastic (from the grille).
Pic 6 Looking at the underside of the assembly. My hand is on the Greddy lip with the bumper above. There is a good inch of gap here that runs along the entire
length of the bumper/lip. Looks like a good place for some reinforcement. I also have to repair that lug on the bumper.
