Berkeley Nazi’s strike again

Published by eTraxx at 12:09 pm under Politics

I told a friend the other day how much I hated California. She can’t understand my real dislike for this state. I had made the comment that there is a process by which a territory becomes a state. Something like:

1. The people of the territory petition Congress for admission to statehood.
2. Congress passes an enabling act authorizing the territory to frame a state constitution.
3. The people of the territory vote to approve the proposed state constitution.
4. The ratified state constitution is submitted to Congress.
5. Congress passes statehood legislation.
6. President proclaims the territory a state.

IMO there should be a process to remove a state from inclusion in the nation. I say .. by a majority vote of the population .. kick ‘em out.
Something like:

1. The people of the United States petition Congress for discharge of a state from statehood.
2. Congress passes an enabling act authorizing the state to separate itself from the United States.
3. The people of the state vote of the proposed act of separation.
4. Results of this vote is passed to Congress.
5. Congress passes separation legislation.
6. President proclaims the state as it’s own political entity separate from the United States.
7. An ambassador is appointed to the new entity.

Reading about the vandals defacing the Marine logo and smashing the windows of the Marine recruiting office in Berkley just adds one more reason for the state to be kicked out of these United States. Heck .. 49 stars would look better on the flag.
